A Modern Home Wrapped Around A Garden
Stone Courtyard is a new family home built around a central garden. The house forms a quiet enclosure, protecting the interior from the street while opening fully to the sky and greenery within. Living spaces face inward, toward light and calm. The result is a private, grounded home that feels both protected and open, and that brings nature into the heart of daily life.
The design began with the courtyard. Every room was arranged around it, so light and view reach deep into the plan. The outer walls stay solid and simple, giving privacy from the street. The inner walls open with glass, connecting each space to the garden at the center.

Materials were chosen for weight and warmth. Local stone forms the outer walls, grounding the house in its setting. Warm timber lines the interior, softening the stone's mass. Glass opens the courtyard side, while concrete floors add calm and durability. Each material is left honest and exposed.
Light moves through the courtyard and into every room. Spaces feel open yet contained, protected yet bright. Rooms connect to the garden and to each other. The house feels larger than its walls, because the courtyard is always present.
The courtyard is the heart of the home. Sliding glass walls open the living spaces directly onto it. Inside and outside flow together without effort. A covered walkway links the rooms around the garden, offering shade and shelter. Seasonal change is felt throughout the year. The house and garden are designed as one continuous whole.
The home now serves as a calm, private retreat for a family. It offers shelter from the street and openness to the sky. Nature is always present, even indoors. The space supports rest, gathering, and slow daily life.
The project proves that privacy and openness can coexist. With a simple courtyard, a home can feel both protected and free. Stone Courtyard is a quiet example of design shaped by nature.
